Creating a Built In Refrigerator Cabinet

In an effort to update our kitchen we determined that our refrigerator needed to be built out.  We also needed more space to store pans.  So our carpenter, who is great by the way, helped us out.  As you can see from the picture below, our old TV and other items were on top of the frig.  He helped bring the cabinet out and here is the process.

The process got more involved than we thought as the Corian to the left of the frig was in the way.  It extended to the right too far to get the cabinetry in there.  You see by the pic below.

So below we tried just putting it to the top of the cabinet but didn't like the way that looked, so he had to cut the Corian, which he had never done before.  But no worries!  He did a marvelous job cutting it so we could put the cabinet all the way to the floor as in the second pic below.

You see the cabinetry that he built in as he built it out.  We have solid oak cabinets and didn't want to do away with them as they are very good cabinets.  However, we wanted to mix them with the white ones that he had created.  I like the mix and think it it is more modern and updated now.  We used Walnut stain on the cabinetry and made it more modern.  Now we can store all our pans in there and get them out of the corner cabinet where we could never find what we wanted.

Below is the finished project without the doors.

I think it finished out so well and you can see how great it looks! so glad we didn't paint them.
