Our Garden Pandemic Project

Our little kitchen garden has been an ongoing project for several years. It all began when we had some centipede sod die in our back yard. The winter of 2017 took it out. It never came back. So we has zoysia planted. So we decided in some of the bare spot we would create a few above ground boxes. Then the fun began!

We planted tomatoes in these above ground boxes for a couple of years. This year my Mr. decided they were too small and needed to be higher for more depth, but that’s a later project with irrigation.

This summer while we were working from home and didn’t have much to do on the weekends and evenings and my Mr. said he wanted to build the white picket fence around our little kitchen garden that I have always wanted.  So he did! Here are a few pics of what he did.

He added two gates, one large gate on the front and one on the side. He surprised me by adding cut out bunnies on each gate.

I love the bunny gates. They are my fav!

I put a sweet garden table inside and added an old wheelbarrow planted with flowers. The front hedge created a kind of back fence. He and his best friend, Wesley made the two chairs and we enjoy sitting in the garden with sweet tea and lemonade in the afternoons. They will be painted black soon to match the stools in front of them.

Our sweet carpenter made the two obelisk for us and love them in the garden.

We have plans to make the two garden beds deeper in the spring. Also, he will be putting in two long beds along the inside of the fence on each side to make those only for cut flowers.

Finally it feels good to finish a project that we have both wanted for many years.

Happy fall everyone!
